Goldleaf Restaurant

Goldleaf Restaurant was founded in 1971 by a group of Singaporean businessmen who wanted to preserve the taste of old-school, familial Chinese cuisine. Over the years till today, it continues to serve porridge and heartwarming popular dishes to Singaporeans young and old.

1. Braised Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetables (梅菜扣肉) - $16

The fats of the Pork Belly moistens the preserved vegetables to arise a strong aroma. It is best to eat with either congee or plain buns (空包) - $1.80

2. Deep Fried Seabass with Black Bean Sauce (豆豉金目鱸) - $20/25

Slicing the Seabass into bite size for the old and the young to consume it at ease

3. Chye Por (Preserved Turnip) Omelette (菜脯蛋) - $10.80

Unlike other omeletes, this Chye Por Omelette is spongy and thicker

4. Homemade Beancurd with Katsuobushi (財魚豆腐) - $12.80

Crispy on the outside but soft and tender on the inside.

5. Flower Clams (Chilli / Superior Stock/ Spring Onions) - $15.80

Using fresh Flower Clams to whip out a bowl of Superior Stock

6. Stir-Fried Nai Bai (清炒奶白) - $10.80

7. Cold Japanese Beancurd with Century Egg and Pork Floss (皮蛋肉松豆腐) - $7.80

This was another interesting dish that caught my attention, I've never thought that century egg can be that appealing.

Introducing two more dishes that will be added into the upcoimng menu for the new year.

8. Honey Glazed Chicken (蜜汁雞丁) - $11.80

The name might sound the same but the way the chef prepares it, is different from the rest. It does not taste too sweet nor too salty. Infact, I personally feel it was just nice.

9. Poached Dou Miao in Trio Egg - $13.80

It may look bland but when you actually taste it, you will realise that it is pretty delectable.

Last but not least, there is always room for Dessert.

10. Yam Paste with Gingko Nuts (百果芋泥) - $5.80

Smooth texture with no coconut oil, a healthier choice.

11. Aloe Vera with Passionfruit Purée (百香果蘆薈) - $4.80

Fruits lovers, please step forward. A nice combination of Passionfruit and Aloe Vera to put together a vibrant yet sweet dessert.

In my opinion, I personally felt that the food was scrumptious and toothsome. The place was family friendly, a perfect setting for a casual family dinner. With a variety of choices, the food served are suitable for both the young and the young-at-heart. As the chinese saying goes, 一分钱 , 一分货 (you get what you pay for) . Although, the food may be slightly pricey as compared to some other Chinese restaurants but I have to agree that it is definitely worth every cent because of the quality of food, the excellent service and the cozy ambience. Goldleaf is a Chinese restaurant that serves traditional food, presented in a modern, simple yet elegant way, without compromising taste!
